Death-cult fighters fled the former terror HQ of Raqqa, in Syria, to set up a new fortress in the city of Deir ez-Zor – 90 miles away.

US-backed Syrian forces are bearing down on Raqqa and had expected to fight the bulk of ISIS’ jihadis there.

But information revealed by US TV network Fox suggests the ISIS “government” is now planning a decisive last stand in the new capital.

US drones have watched thousands of terrorists fleeing Raqqa and making for the new safe haven.

Operation Euphrates Rage, launched in November last year, was aimed at breaking the siege on Raqqa.

And with ISIS soldiers fleeing the stronghold by the thousand, the city looks poised for a fall.

Anti-ISIS troops will now face a fierce fight in Deir ez-Zor to defeat the death cult once and for all.

Deir ez-Zor province has seen some of the bloodiest fighting and massacres in Syria.
