Donald Trump suggested Thursday that changing America’s libel laws could help him fight back against reporting from The New York Times that he considers inaccurate and unfairly damaging.

‘The failing @nytimes has disgraced the media world. Gotten me wrong for two solid years. Change libel laws?’ the president tweeted.
His tweet included a link to a New York Post column that blasted the Times’ ‘ongoing dishonesty.’

Trump first raised the idea of libel law reform during a February 2016 campaign rally in Fort Worth, Texas, warning the Times and The Washington Post that ‘we’re going to open up those libel laws, folks, and we’re going to have people sue you like you never got sued before.’
