NORTH Korea’s Kim Jong-un may be an unstable crazed dictator straight out of central casting – but he is a nuclear-armed unstable crazed dictator.

And today Japan took further steps to defend its people from attack by launching an advanced satellite system to spy on Pyongyang and the mad dictator’s seemingly unstoppable desire to start a self-destructive war.

The same defensive move will be seen by North Korea, and it’s reluctant backer China, as provocation.

The Japanese H-2A rocket launched the Information Gathering Satellite Radar 5 mission at 1.20am today following the rogue state’s combined ballistic missile test days ago which was seen as a drill for a pre-emptive nuclear strike against a US military base close to Hiroshima.

The spy rocket blasted off with a precision Kim Jong-un would envy from the Tanegashima Space Centre in southern Japan.

IGS Radar 5 is a reconnaissance satellite mission for the Japanese government.

The launch was streamed live and YouTube and can be watched here.

The actual blast off is at 51.13.
