Desperate Germany warns Trump against border tax fearing trade chaos could cripple economy
DONALD Trump has been warned not to introduce a border tax on foreign goods by Germany’s finance minister amid fears it could spell chaos for international trade.

Wolfgang Schäuble does not believe it is possible for the US to implement a “border adjustable” tax system because “a country cannot do this unilaterally at all”.
President Trump has proposed the 20 per cent border adjustment tax to raise funds for the wall along Mexico’s national boundary bringing in £8.1billion ($10bn)-a-year.
But his plans are likely to stir up resentment between the two nations just a day before Angela Merkel meets Donald Trump.
Ms Merkel, however, appears to be holding out hope for a positive meeting, saying: “One-on-one conversations are always much better than talking about each other.”
