DAVID DAVIS today insisted quitting the EU without an exit deal is “not as frightening as some people think” as he confirmed Brexit could be triggered from TOMORROW.

The Brexit Secretary boosted the Prime Minister’s message ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’ by outlining his ongoing work to MPs this morning.

Mr Davis recently ordered his Cabinet colleagues to begin preparing their Whitehall departments for the possibility of Britain walking away from the EU with no Brexit agreement in place.

Describing the action his own Exiting the EU department is taking to prepare the UK for that possibility, the Tory minister told the House of Commons Brexit Select Committee he was not yet able to “quantify” the impact of no Brexit deal being agreed.

But Mr Davis also reminded MPs to consider the “upsides” of completing Britain’s divorce from Brussels.

Theresa May has vowed to trigger two-year exit negotiations with Brussels by the end of this month, having this week seen both MPs and peers pass her Article 50 Bill.

Mr Davis told the committee the Government is “expecting” the Queen to sign the Bill into law tomorrow by granting the legislation royal assent.

It means the Prime Minister should legally be able to formally begin the Brexit process as soon as Thursday.
