BREAKING: ‘Give Trump a chance’ Johnson gives his support to US President

Britain’s Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has given his backing to the new US President as well as saying the UK will remain supportive of the European Union after Brexit.

The 52-year-old who was a key figure in the pro-Brexit campaign, told a high-level audience of world leaders and foreign and defence heads at a security conference to” Give Donald Trump a chance”.

The conference is being held in Munich with around 30 world leaders as well as 80 foreign and defence ministers attending.

Mr Johnson also said that despite the UK leaving the European Union (EU) in the future it would still remain loyal to its European partners.

He said: “Does Brexit mean the end of the EU? Emphatically not. We’ll leave the EU but remain supportive of our European partner.”

He was appearing on a panel discussion alongside US Senator John McCain and others under the title of ‘The Future of the West: Downfall or Comeback?’

Also appearing on the same panel was Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders who said that the was “deeply convinced” that there were “movements in my country that want to destroy the West”.
