Southern California is currently being battered by a storm that experts say could be the biggest in six years, bringing heavy rains, gusting winds and the potential for flash floods and mudslides.

The entire Southland of California is on flood watch, including Death Valley National Park – considered to be the driest place in America.

‘This will likely go down in the record books as one of the wettest February days ever,’ Crystal Egger, NBC’s weather forecaster, said.

For now, the storm will mostly steer clear of Northern California, where the bulging Oroville Dam threatened to give way to erosion last week.

But another system could bring more water to the straining dam early next week.
