The Tory MP hit out against the Democrat on Sunday when he locked horns with Labour MP Jess Phillips on Sky News.
Appearing on Sophy Ridge’s show, the pair clashed over whether or not Mr Obama had been a good President.
In a Gogglebox style setting, the MPs discussed footage from Donald Trump’s inauguration day.
Upon seeing Barack Obama leave the White House, the Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley sighed as she declared: “Oh Barack, we miss you.”
Quick-wittedly, Mr Rees-Mogg retorted: “No, we don’t. He was a very unsuccessful American President and his foreign policy was a catastrophe.”
Appearing to ignore the Tory MP’s remark, Ms Phillips insisted: “I think he was really successful, really brilliant and gave me hope for a better world.”
Having none of it, the MP for North East Somerset tore into Mr Obama’s leadership as he said the former president had let Vladimir Putin replace the US as the global power in the region.
Mr Rees-Mogg said: “He didn’t even manage to close Guantanamo Bay which he promised to do.
