The Alternative Party for Germany (AfD) have hit out against the German Chancellor after she, along with several other European Union leaders lambasted the immigration restrictions imposed by Donald Trump.
Speaking from Sweden after a meeting with Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, Mrs Merkel said: “I have made it clear once again that the fight against terrorism does not justify a general advance against certain countries and people with a certain belief.”
While Mr Lofven added: “It is deeply regrettable that the USA has suspended all travel from citizens of seven countries. That’s anything but good.”
Hansjoerg Mueller, who leads the AfD’s economic forum, criticised Mrs Merkel’s stance as he insisted she was breaking the oath she swore to protect German interests by refusing to change her migration policy.
