Neighbors Furious After Video Shows Cops Take Laughing Selfie in Front of a Burning Home

Long Island, NY — While a Long Island house was engulfed in flames, two police officers with the Nassau County Police Department were captured on video taking a smiling selfie right in front of it. And now the neighbors are furious.
The fire, which raged on with no one trying to put it out, including the selfie-taking cops, destroyed the home.
While the idea of two people taking selfies in front of a fire may not sound like that big of a deal, the idea of two public servants doing it is certainly uncalled for — and the neighbors are upset.
“It’s disgusting. I don’t like that because it shows no concern about the people in the neighborhood,” said a neighbor who asked not to be named.
“People in the neighborhood just lost a house, and you’re going to sit there taking selfies,” he said.
Both ironically and hypocritically, a non-cop was seen in the same footage attempting to take a selfie. However, he was quickly shut down by the cops — who just took a selfie.
“I don’t think it was appropriate for the peace officers to be behaving like that,” a neighbor named Vera told NBC 4.
