The Obama administration could be just days away from announcing a set of sanctions designed to punish Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, for allegedly meddling in America’s November election.
Citing unnamed sources, The Washington Post reported that the package of consequences could include economic sanctions, ‘diplomatic censure’ and a new round of retaliatory cyber operations targeting Moscow.
Meanwhile, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham warned during a trip to Latvia that Congress will back any plan to level penalties at Russia.
‘You can expect that the Congress will investigate the Russian involvement in our elections and there will be bipartisan sanctions coming that will hit Russia hard, particularly Putin as an individual,’ Graham said.
