Russian ambassador to Turkey shot in Ankara ‘in assassination attempt’ – hostages held
THE Russian ambassador to Turkey has been shot in Ankara, according to Turkish media.

NTV said the Russian ambassador was seriously wounded in a gun attack at an art gallery.
Other people have been shot and special forces have been called to the scene.
The gunman is believed to be on the loose and further shots have been heard.
The ambassador has been taken to hospital in the Turkish capital.
Andrei Karlov was made Moscow’s ambassador to Turkey in 2013.
His condition is unknown.
NTV and other broadcasters said the Russian ambassador was seriously wounded in a shooting in an attack in the Turkish capital.
Hurriyet newspaper’s English website said Ambassador Andrei Karlov was shot while making a speech at an art gallery. NTV said three other people were wounded.
CNN Turk television said shooting was continuing in the building.
