Northern Mexico states form alliance to fight threat of deportations from Trump’s America

FOUR northern Mexican regions have formed an alliance to protect their interests once Donald Trump takes over at the White House.

Leaders from Baja California, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo León have met to discuss a range of issues thrown up by the US Election 2016 including migration policy and a change to the tax coordination scheme for more resources.

The creation of a Border Fund with federal budget, and proposed by the four governors would allow the regions meet the needs that could arise in the eventual repatriation of Mexicans expected after the change of Government in Washington DC.

Nuevo León governor Jaime Rodríguez Calderón warned of the need to modify the fiscal co-ordination scheme to economically support border states on migration either because they receive citizens repatriated from the US or because migrants stay there after the failing to cross the border.
