Michigan is beginning a hand recount of votes at noon today as the Green Party’s legal fight for a statewide recount moves to Pennsylvania.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein has been trying to force recounts in three states: Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania – all part of the Rust Belt. The traditionally blue states all bucked the trend and gave their electoral votes to President-elect Donald Trump

Trump won Michigan’s 16 electoral votes by just 0.2 percentage points, leading Stein to market the recount as an effort to explore whether voting machines and systems had been hacked and the election result manipulated.

Judge Mark Goldsmith issued a ruling early on Monday morning, rejecting an effort by Michigan state officials to wait two business days before starting to hand-count about 4.8million ballots, reported the Detroit Free Press.
