President-elect Donald Trump secured the White House when he amassed 290 electoral votes with wins in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin
Green Party candidate Jill Stein wants a recount of the two states, plus Michigan, after computer experts said hacks could have occurred
She raised $2.8million in just hours online – the money will be used to pay for the recounts, according to her website
The experts also urged Clinton’s camp to seek a recount, after a statistical analysis suggested she did worse in counties with electronic voting boxes
The computer experts did not cite evidence of electoral tampering, and said it was only a possibility – but one that needs to be investigated
The 2016 election featured hacking of Clinton campaign chair John Podesta’s emails and the Democratic National Committee’s emails
Requests for recounts must be filed within days

A left-leaning campaign demanding a recount of the presidential election has raised more than $2.8million in a matter of hours.

Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein raised the money for recounts in Wisconsin, Illinois and Pennsylvania after experts said it was possible that hackers had artificially lowered Hillary Clinton’s counts there.

If all three states were overturned – however unlikely that outcome may be – it would theoretically hand the White House to Clinton.

Stein started the fund-raiser on her website on Wednesday, saying that she needed to raise $2million by Friday – but broke that amount the same day.
