The London offices of the Daily Mail and Metro newspapers were evacuated Monday afternoon after a suspect package containing “white powder” was discovered.

Police told staff at the newspapers to leave their offices at Northcliffe House on High Street Kensington after the powder was sent to the Daily Mail news room.

A spokeswoman for London’s Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 12.20pm on Monday, November 14 to reports of a suspicious package at a building in Kensington High Street.

“Borough officers from Kensington and Chelsea, supported by specialist Met officers, are currently in attendance.

“A limited evacuation has taken place in one area of the building.

“Enquiries continue.”

Staff were later allowed back into the offices shortly after 2pm GMT, with local police concluding the package was “non-suspicious”.
