As reported yesterday, among the extensive list of overly dramatic celebrities who vowed to leave the US if Trump wins the presidential election, was Amy Schumer, who said in September that Spain would be her destination of choice. “My act will change because I will need to learn to speak Spanish,” Schumer said in an appearance on the BBC’s “Newsnight.” “Because I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won. It’s just too crazy.”
Or maybe she meant London. It’s unclear, she may have been confused, but with their feet held to the fire, America’s celebrities are now furiously retracting, and according to The Hill, Schumer now says she was joking when she said she would move to London if Donald Trump was elected president.
“The interview where I said I would move was in London and was said in jest,” Schumer said in the caption of an Instagram post, which showed a picture of Trump and a debunked quote of the president-elect calling Republicans the “dumbest group of voters in the country.”
“Not that anyone needs more than a headline to count something as official news. Anyone saying pack your bags is just as disgusting as anyone who voted for this racist homophobic openly disrespectful woman abuser.”
