Texas Authorities Closely Monitor Terror Threat Before US Election

Residents of the US state of Texas should remain vigilant amid reports of a potential terrorist threat as the election date to decide the next president of the United States nears, Governor Greg Abbott said in a news release on Friday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day it was reported that al-Qaeda terrorist group could be planning attacks a day before US presidential election in the states of New York, Texas and Virginia.
“My office is working with law enforcement officials and we are continuing to monitor the situation in close coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety,” Abbott stated in the release.
The governor advised Texans to go about their daily lives as usual, but also said they should “remain vigilant over the next several days and report any suspicious activity to state or local law enforcement.”
