Sweden, Denmark and Norway have been hit by a series of car fires during the summer months, and the violence has surged in force.
Express.co.uk reported on Monday that police in Malmö, in south Sweden, was desperately trying to re-establish control over the city.
Shocking footage of violent fires blazing throughout the town over the weekend is only a taste of the growing violence emerging as tensions are grow in the area.
Police said the arsonist attacks were sparked by the force’s crack down on organised criminal activity in the district.
Officer Erik Jansåker said: “This, in my opinion, is criminal people who are [lashing out] because of our efforts to [crack down] on the serious organised crime.”
However the fires first started back in July and in less than three months more than 70 cars have burned out.
If the strike continues, it will top 2009, which is reported to be the worst year for attacks in the city.
