Man dead in Baltimore after police shut down city as gunman on the loose

A MAN has been shot and killed in Baltimore after police closed down part of the city in Maryland over reports of a gunman on the loose.

Police are working to secure the area and reopen the roads after the suspected gunman is in custody for killing a man.

Baltimore Police Department said “when officers arrived on the scene they observed a 33 year-old male suffering from a gunshot wounds.

“Medics responded and pronounced the victim dead.

“Homicide detectives were summoned and assumed control of the investigation.

Earlier, Baltimore Police tweeted that on September 18 at 3:52am, the Southern District police officers responded to a “barricade in the 1600 block of Whetsone Way”.

The police said that once they were at the scene, they learned that the individual may have access to a firearm.

The tweet said: “Out of an abundance of caution, police have closed several roadways near the Harris Teeter shopping centre.”

Police negotiators and tactical officers are at the scene and police are asking people to avoid the area.
