A SPECTACULAR autumn in the British countryside will be blotted out and air travellers face chaos if experts’ fears come true about volcano named after an evil troll.

Skies over Blighty are threatened with a wintry-grey gloom if the volcano blows and a choking veil of ash is wafted our way on the wind from Iceland.

Flights taking off and landing at airports from Southern Ireland to Ulster and Scotland, and right across England and Wales, face disruption with pilots peering to see through the all-enveloping curtain of volcanic dust.

The boiling-hot ash from the volcano’s 1,600 degree Fahrenheit lava could melt in aircraft engines and cause turbines to become blocked up.

Nature experts’ predictions this week that we are in for a magical autumn filled with soft sunlight and glowing yellow, orange and brown leaves drifting down from trees would be dashed as the blue skies turned a dusty grey.

The dust could cause misery for millions of asthma sufferers, with the economy taking a huge hit as workers phone in sick as firms starting preparing for Brexit and gearing up for the Christmas sales rush.

But at least car wash firms would be rubbing their hands with glee… our pride and joy motors would be covered with a thick grey coating of ash.
