This isn’t even a gun control issue anymore, it’s deeper than that. If this is allowed to stand, the government will be able to “reinterpet” any existing law to jail anyone, at anytime, for any reason… retroactively.

And still no action from the Governor or legislature, who’s session ends tomorrow and will not resume utill January.
Currently all Massachusetts gun dealers have ceased sales of ANY semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, you can no longer buy even buy a Ruger 10/22 or a Remington 11-87 skeet shotgun.
Anyone who purchased one of these very common firearms (the 10/22 is a favorite .22 of the Boy Scouts) since 1998 committed a felony according to AG Maura Healy, and is committing a felony still by possessing it. The punishment for this crime is 10 YEARS IN PRISON.
She has stated that because she is a nice lady she will not prosecute anyone who purchased one before 7/20/16, the day she issued her “guidance”, but at the same time reserved the right to change her mind in the future.
This does not prevent law enforcement from seizing what is now considered to be illegal weapons, nor does it prevent other DAs looking to make a name for themselves from prosecuting on their own.
This is BY FAR the most reaching gun control measure ever attempted in the nation, nevermind the most unconstitutional given it’s ex-post facto nature.
