Breaking News: Military Preparing for Martial Law in So. Illinois

For the past month, I receive 4-5 emails like this per week. The message is clear, the military is preparing for martial law.
I offer the latest of these emails without comment.
Mr. Hodges,
Back in May I sent you a message about being on the lookout for changes with our National Guard here in Southern Illinois. My premise was that being an Engineering/Transportation unit, I felt they could be a “canary in the coal mine” and could be used to haul heavy equipment from our major North/South rail line for a build up in the area. I was wrong.
A week ago Wednesday July 20th I drove by the Armory next to the Carbondale Airport and noticed that the parking lot was full and 80% of the heavy equipment haulers were gone and the rest were lined up at the gate preparing to leave, as well as soldiers milling about. My neighbor informed me his Son in Law had guard duty that weekend. I did not get a chance to drive past it again until this past Tuesday and an odd transition had occurred, There was no build up of tanks and such but the parking pad which for the past few years was always full of heavy equipment movers and various engineering vehicles was now instead filled with 5 ton cargo trucks with canvas covers in back and patrol Humvee’s and like last week the parking lot was full and there was plenty of activity.
This place has been a ghost town for the last few years and now it is movement central. An invasion would warrant heavy equipment build up but a build up like this suggest local patrols/crowd control? As I stated in my last email my dad(who passed away on the 15th) used to say people like you standing in front of tanks with pop guns are idiots and I would always tell him I didn’t want to stand in front of them I just wanted a heads up to start hunkering down.
