Two police officers have been shot dead by a masked gunman in Baton Rouge, less than two weeks after the killing of Alton Sterling in the same Louisiana city provoked outrage.
The man, who was wearing black, was seen firing indiscriminately at around 9am as he walked out between a shop and a car wash, a witness told WBRZ.
Baton Rouge’s chief administrative officer William Daniel confirmed that two officers have died.
At least two other officers are in a critical condition in hospital, but this number is expected to grow.
East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden earlier told CNN that three officers were ‘feared dead’.
