Angry Brits are demanding a re-run of the referendum following Friday’s narrow decision to leave the EU
A petition calling for a second EU referendum has hit 1.6 MILLION signatures and become the most popular in parliamentary history.
The surge came as more than 100,000 people signed a petition calling on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to declare the capital independent from the UK and apply to join the European Union.
On Friday, the government’s petitions website saw such an “exceptionally high” number of visits it crashed.
And by Saturday morning, the petition was being signed by more than 100,000 people an hour.
Only 100,000 signatures are needed to trigger a debate on the topic in Parliament.
