UKIP leader Nigel Farage told an Italian newspaper he would “destroy the old EU” in a “big bang” of British politics.
Sweden’s foreign minister Margot Wallstrom also warned a vote to leave the union could lead to a complete break up as member states try to negotiate better deals for themselves.
But bookmakers still predict Britons will vote to stay in the union – despite opinion polls last night giving the Leave campaign a 10 point lead.
In an interview published in Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Dera today, Farage claimed the EU will start to fall apart after the June 23 referendum.
