At least one dead and three wounded in shooting near US high school

AT least one person has died and three more injured after a shooting near a US high school.

One teenager was reportedly killed after a gunman opened fire near the Jeremiah Burke High School in Boston, America.

Officer James Kenneally, from the local force, confirmed that two other victims were also in their late teens.

The deceased was a 17-year-old student, police confirmed.

A third victim, an elderly woman in her 60s, was treated at the scene for a graze wound to her leg caused by a bullet.

It is unclear whether the trio who were shot were students.

The gunfire just after 1pm on Tuesday caused the Burke school and three others into lockdown.

Students were not allowed to leave the Dearborn STEM Academy, the Martin Luther King, Jr. K-8 School, and the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School.

The Burke school was sealed off by police tape, which frantic and panicked parents descending onto the steer to see if their child was injured.
