M4.9 Earthquake Strikes off Oregon Coast

A moderate Magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Oregon this morning at 3:01 Am eastern US time. The temblor hit at the Blanco Fracture Zone which is west of the Cascadia Subduction Zone as seen on the map below.
This may be related to swarms of small earthquakes which have been striking three volcanoes in that region, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood, but it remains to be seen if those swarms cease after this larger quake.
