The Hungarian government’s already tough stance on migrants is set to harden further with senior figures promising no immigrants will stay in the country illegally.
Minister Karoly Kontrat said: “Not a single migrant should be able to stay in our territory illegally.”
Along with the extra cash injection of 9.3 billion Forints (£23 million) is a promise that any would-be migrant caught by the police within 8 kilometres of the border will be dealt with immediately and either given leave to stay or kicked out.
