SAVERS and investors have been warned to expect a crash in markets as the typically more volatile summer months approach.

Stock markets have been performing relatively well since March, following the meltdown at the start of the year triggered by worries over China’s slowing economy and low oil prices.

But pundits are warning this is the calm before the storm and investors should expect another round of turmoil in the coming months.

An old investment adage suggests investors should ‘sell in May’ and buy back in on St Legers day in September.

The strategy would have worked perfectly last year, with the FTSE 100 reaching record highs in April before crashing in August.
