More than 2000 protestors chanted “Cameron Out” as they marched on Number 10 waving placards emblazoned with slogans including “Time to go, chum” and “He’s got to go”.
Other banners reading “Cameron is a little slug – weasel”, “Get the Tories out”, and “Eton’s Mess” demonstrated the strength of feeling over the Prime Minister’s personal tax affairs.
The protest march is a huge embarrassment to the beleaguered PM, at the end of a week when rows over his personal finances and pro-Brussels propaganda leaflet pushed his approval ratings below those of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s.
It came as Mr Cameron tried to repair his battered reputation with a grovelling apology over his bungled handling of the tax scandal to Tory MPs at the Conservative spring forum.
