A sheriff’s spokesman says two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a U.S. Air Force base in San Antonio.

Bexar County sheriff’s spokesman James Keith said two bodies were found Friday morning around 8:30am inside a room of a building at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The discovery of the bodies sent the base into lockdown on Friday, as authorities searched room to room for more victims.

The identities of the two victims have not been released yet, as authorities work to inform their families first. However, officials say that the gunman was an airman who shot dead his squadron commander.

‘Our hearts and prayers go out to the families who are going to be affected by this tragedy,’ Brigadier General Robert LaBrutta said at a press conference Friday morning.
