Those being sought by anti-terror services are suspected Islamist extremists of French and Belgian nationality who left for Syria or are believed to be in Europe.

The suspects were all in contact with Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected Paris attacks mastermind, according to German newspaper Die Welt.

European authorities have not yet given any details about the latest Paris and Brussels suspects.

Belgian national Abaaoud was killed in a terror raid by French special forces in Saint-Denis days after 130 people were murdered in the French capital.

Fayçal Cheffou, 31, a Belgian national, is the first man to be charged with terrorist killings over the attacks in Brussels.

Belgian media have named Cheffou, an independent journalist, as the mysterious ‘man in white’ pictured next to other bombers Ibrahim el-Bakraoui and Najim Laachraoui on CCTV footage at Zaventem Airport – but this has not been confirmed by Belgian authorities.

However, a source close to the Belgian investigation said: “That is a hypothesis the investigators are working on.”
