Three separate explosions brought death and destruction to Brussels this morning as three bomb blasts killed 34 people and injured dozens more during 79 minutes of terror.

At 8am local time this morning, a first explosion ripped through the main hall near check-in desks at Brussels Airport sparking chaotic scenes in the terminal.

Just seconds later, and after witnesses reported hearing shouts in Arabic, another blast rocked the building, throwing bodies into the air and leaving passengers dismembered on the floor.

Thousands of terrified people streamed out of the building as it emerged 14 had been killed and dozens more injured in the twin blasts.

Smoke was seen billowing from the main hall of Zaventem Airport, with prosecutor Frederic Van Leeuw later saying the assault was likely to have involved at least one suicide bomber.
