The miniaturised weapons have long been rumoured to exist in the closed-off communist country, which has ramped up its military activity in recent months.
State media in North Korea has claimed that scientists have successfully made the weapons in the past.
But this is the first time that the ruthless dictator has been directly quoted as saying they exist.
Pyongyang’s despot warned: “The nuclear warheads have been standardised to be fit for ballistic missiles by miniaturising them.
