EU ‘CLOSE TO THE EDGE’: Europe could COLLAPSE if eurozone plunged into recession again

A series of political problems would be created by a fresh downturn, causing serious damage to the single currency’s future, a leading investment bank has warned.
Economists at Swiss bank Credit Suisse said in research note “Close to the edge” Europe’s policymakers must avoid a slump if the monetary union is to survive.
They also said anti-euro populism spreading across member states could cause problems for the currency.
Peter Foley at Credit Suisse told the Telegraph: “The viability of the euro is contingent on the current recovery.
“If the euro area were to relapse back into recession, it is not clear it would endure.”
