Online attackers breached the firewall of a prestigious Beijing university, posting an image of ISIS fighters on horseback holding the group’s black and white flag.

Beneath the picture, uploaded to Tsinghua University website, was the bizarrely coded message: “Everything is okay in the end. If it’s not okay, then it’s not the end :$”

The attackers signed off “Islamic State hacker” and gave an email address with a .ru suffix – the internet country code used in Russia.

It is thought to be the first such attack on a website based in China.

The website was shut down briefly to “prevent further spreading of the message”.
