Renewed calls to finally put an end to the twisted jihadi’s reign of evil came as a fresh security alert erupted in Munich over fears of an attack on New Year’s Eve.
German police cleared two stations in the city shortly before midnight following a tip-off that militants were planning attacks.
The stations were reopened a few hours after the scare, and police have since confessed they do not know if the suspects exist.
But speaking today, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said the terror threat was still a concern as he called on foreign security services to cooperate.
He told daily newspaper Bild: “In the new year the situation will remain very serious.
“In future, we will depend more intensively than before on close cooperation with security services from other countries and the exchange of information.”
The tip-off that sparked the evacuation on German soil over the festive season is thought to have come from the French security services.
