Czech Republic to Double Number of Soldiers in NATO Rapid Response Force

The Czech parliament approved a proposal to double the number of soldiers capable of participating in possible operations of NATO Rapid Response Force (NFR) in 2016, local media reported Friday.
PRAGUE (Sputnik) – The Ceske Noviny news portal reported, citing Defense Minister Martin Stropnicky, the reason for increasing the number of servicemen from 453 to 816 was linked to the overall review of the NATO Response Force.
As many as 128 lawmakers out of 152, who attended the parliamentary meeting, supported the government’s proposal to increase the number of Czech soldiers in the NFR, while 23 rejected it and one abstained.
