The State Department has issued a travel alert for U.S. citizens due to increased terrorist threats
Among the groups the State Department says are planning attacks are ISIS, al-Qaeda and Boko Haram
‘These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons,’ according to the alert
The State Department also said the U.S. is exchanging information with allies about threats of international terrorism
This alert will be in effect until February 24 of next year
The travel alert was issued the same day that Belgium’s prime minister announced that Brussels would remain at the highest alert level

The State Department issued a worldwide travel alert on Monday warning U.S. citizens of the risks of traveling because of what it described as ‘increased terrorist threats.’

‘Current information suggests that ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions,’ the department said in a warning posted on its website.

‘These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests.’

The alert is to be in effect until February 24 of next year.
