A teenager who allegedly threatened to ‘shoot every black person I see’ at the University of Missouri has been arrested, campus police say.

Hunter M. Park, 19, was arrested in the town of Rolla, around 100 miles from the university, earlier this morning before being transferred to a jail in Columbia.

Police say he is being held accused of making a terrorist threat, though he hasn’t been formally charged. His bond is set at $4,500.

Officers say that Park was arrested at 1.50am today, and is not a student at the university.

There was panic yesterday after threatening anonymous messages appeared on social media, with some students reported to have left university grounds over fears for their safety.

The messages came 24 hours after the university’s president Tim Wolfe was ousted by largely black protesters following complaints that he failed to deal with a series of racist incidents on campus.
