Another debt-limit hike is on the way, as sources familiar with Capitol Hill budget talks say White House officials and senior congressional leaders have struck a deal to keep government operational for two more years, primarily by raising the ceiling of tax-dollar spending.

And those on the conservative and low–tax camps aren’t happy.

“It is absurd that Republicans in the House have allowed a lame duck speaker to negotiate a debt ceiling that locks in increased spending for not one, but two years, weakening their power of the purse,” said Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, in a statement. “The irony is that [John] Boehner’s only major achievement as speaker was budget sequestration that slowed down the growth of the debt for three years. Sadly that achievement is wiped away by this parting shot. It is rare that an outgoing Speaker would take an eraser to his own legacy.”

His comments came just a few hours after congressional watchers revealed lawmakers struck a deal with the White House to keep government operations running, while simultaneously increasing the debt ceiling.

The Hill reported the deal “would extend the debt ceiling to March 2017 and bust budget limits set by a 2011 agreement that imposed a decade of reduced spending known as sequestration on the government.”

In numbers, caps would raise by $112 billion in fiscal 2016 and 2017, a source told the Hill.
