Investigative journalism has struck once more, this time catching paid campaign staffers for Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton plotting to break campaign laws.
As reported by Breitbart News, videographer James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas, purports to show Clinton campaign staffers and volunteers in Nevada ignoring and knowingly violating the state’s voter registration laws.
In addition, the video appears to show the conduct actually being encouraged and condoned by a local attorney who also works for the Clinton campaign.
The video notes that it is a felony in the state of Nevada for someone involved in the process of registering voters to “solicit a vote for or against a particular question or candidate” or “speak to a voter on the subject of marking his or her ballot for or against a particular question or candidate.” Yet a number of staffers were found to be “openly partisan” when they were registering voters, according to the video’s narrator and resultant video clips.
If found guilty, violators could face jail time and a fine of up to $20,000.
In addition, the video appears to show a number of campaign staffers who are well aware of what the law allows. Nevertheless, many of them scoff and laugh at the law while repeatedly bragging about violating it as they verbally promote Clinton and offer campaign literature as they try to register potential voters.
Elsewhere in the Project Veritas video, Clinton campaign staffers appear to solicit voter registration in close proximity to state offices, which is also a potential violation of state law. In the video, when the attorney in question – identified as Christina Gupana – was informed of the alleged law-breaking, she casually advises staffers, “Do whatever you can. Whatever you can get away with, just do it, until you get kicked out, like totally.”
