The Pentagon has spent about $500 million on training and equipping “moderate rebels” in Syria to fight the Islamic State. However, a large part of the weapons fell into the hands of the Islamist group Al-Nustra, complicating the fight against terrorism even more than before.
There is only chaos and violence, where Americans are involved. The US military operation in Syria is increasingly becoming a fiasco, taking into account its inefficient attempts to train “moderate rebels” for the fight against the Syrian army and the ISIL militias, Austrian Contra Magazin wrote.
Last week, it became known that just 4-5 of a total of 54 fully trained and armed fighters were active in Syria. Later, the number was raised to 9, but this does not change the situation for the better, the newspaper reported.
The rest of the fighters still remain in Turkey, some of them have joined other armed groups or just disappeared. A major program that will ultimately cost approximately 55 million dollars per an active fighter proved to be inefficient.

The United States was planning to train 3,000 fighters this year, but at least 2,991 of them still appear to be absent, the article sarcastically mentioned.
