PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING OR PREDICTION FLOP?

An interesting scene has been discovered in the first season of the 1996 TV series 3rd Rock From the Sun that may make the wheels in your brain start turning; that is if you are anything like me and have a conspiracy oriented mind.

f you are not familiar with the show it’s one in which “a group of aliens are sent to Earth, disguised as a human family, to experience and report life on the 3rd planet from the sun”, as described IMDb’s website.

In fact the stunning reference in which I myself am referring to was made by 3rd Rock’s John Lithgow, my favorite actor in the original Twilight Zone the Movie’s ‘monster on the wing skit’, and may even dovetail with recent rumors, claims, that an asteroid could strike Earth in less than 1 week, on September 23rd or 24th — or not. After all it’s just a rumor so no one really knows.

In the clip, posted on YouTube, Lithgow’s character, Dr. Dick Solomon, garnered gnarly looks from others in the room after saying, “[…] everyone on the planet gets worked up about these pointless little behaviors, blissfully unaware of the great vaporizing meteor due in 2015.”

Although Dr. Solomon soon-after goes on to say that he “was kidding” it goes to show just how strange Hollywood’s predictive programming may or may not be as it could go either way — I guess only time will tell.
