The shooting of a Kentucky State Trooper by a suspect who lived near Ferguson, Missouri has some people asking whether the murder was a ‘Black Lives Matter’ revenge attack.

Kentucky State Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder was shot dead last night following a chase that began when Ponder attempted to pull over Joseph Thomas Johnson-Shanks for a routine traffic stop.

“Officials stated in a release that when Ponder tried to pull over the suspect, the suspect took off, leading Ponder on an eight-mile, high-speed chase,” reports 5 KSDK. “The chase ended when the suspect slammed his brakes, causing Ponder to crash into his vehicle. The suspect then reportedly fired several shots into the cruiser, striking Ponder. He died about an hour later at the hospital.”

Johnson-Shanks was later cornered by police in a wooded area and shot dead after he refused to drop his gun. It was subsequently confirmed that Johnson-Shanks was a resident of Florissant, Missouri, which is located less than 4 miles from Ferguson, Missouri.
