Microsoft CEO Announces 8000 Job Cuts

Microsoft has been experiencing losses as of recently, and in a heartfelt company email – Microsoft’s Satya Nadella thanked all employees while delivering the job cuts in the softest way possible.
According to an article on wired.com, the company’s phone business development field will be getting a cut of 7,800 of these positions globally – much to the chagrin of those who would be laid off. This move by Nadella was in addition to the other 18,000 jobs that he had planned to cut also last year. The total number of all these cuts make up around 1/5th of Microsoft’s total headcount worldwide.
He also announced Stephen Elop’s departure from the company. Elop was also a top ranking executive for Microsoft who ran the device’s unit in the company, according to the same article.
