Bellevue Hospital has been selected as one of nine regional Ebola treatment centers in the country.

The Manhattan medical center and eight other hospitals will each get $3.25 million over the next five years to build up their capability to treat patients with Ebola, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

The hospitals will be required to accept patients within eight hours of notification and be able to treat two Ebola patients at the same time.

The staff at Bellevue treated Dr. Craig Spencer, the city’s first and only Ebola patient, last year.

Spencer, who came down with the deadly disease on Oct. 23 after volunteering in Guinea, recovered after 20 days of isolation and treatment.
