Moms March on Capital to Protest Police Brutality Against Their Black Sons

Mothers are starting to arrive in DC from around the country, uniting under the hashtag #MillionMomsMarch to highlight violence perpetrated by police on young African-American males.

Mothers for Justice United, the leading organization, was founded by Maria Hamilton after the death of her son Dontre at the hands a Milwaukee police officer in April of last year.

“We are a group of mothers whose children were taken from us by police and racist vigilante violence,” they say on their website. “Together we fight for justice for our children and for our communities.”
