Prosecutors ruled that Freddie Gray’s death was a homicide.
“We have probable cause to file criminal charges,” State attorney Marilyn Mosby said at a press conference.
All 6 officers involved in the incident have been charged and warrants are out for their arrests.
After he was arrested for carrying a switchblade on April 12, Freddie Gray’s spine was somehow partially severed while in police custody.
Gray underwent major surgery, lapsed into a coma, and died a week later. That sparked protests across Baltimore that escalated into riots.
The police initially stopped Gray because he “fled unprovoked upon noticing police presence,” according to charging documents written by officer Garrett Miller and cited by The Baltimore Sun.
